Reaching for the Stars

While the title of this post might sound like my usual fanciful, dreamy, waxing-on-philosophical self, it is actually the title of a show I just finished watching. To be more precise, a Taiwanese drama.

Desperate to save her dying brother, Ren Jie, a young woman barely able to make ends meet as she drifts from job to job, agrees to pose as the missing daughter of Zhou Xinlei's (Leilei) recently departed stepfather, with whom the young model was close. Meanwhile, fed up with the lack of justice served to criminals, Shen Xiaorou quarrels with her boss and quits her job as a police woman and is later employed as Ren Jie's bodyguard. The three young women's lives have become completely intertwined, but will Ren Jie be able to successfully pose as Zhou Xiaonou while the vice chairman of Zhou Group pulls the strings? And what will be the consequences when Xiaorou discovers Ren Jie has a brother or Leilei learns that her "stepsister" has won the heart of the man she loves?

Over all, I found it an enjoyable series, certainly worth a gander. (Granted, I like almost anything, particularly if there is romance involved... gomen! Or, I guess I should say "dui bu qi.") It was interesting to see how the three of them were brought together and the end came with a twist that I did not expect (though, there is often things that I never see coming). I checked out this series because it starred Ella, who I just saw in the Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi (more on that another time... maybe. I hope. I plan--just don't hold your breath, I won't be able to pay for your funeral....). I'm glad I did.
